Having misaligned teeth is rarely fun.

You may have issues smiling in photos, there may be ongoing issues relating to diet and hygiene and, of course, having misaligned teeth has been linked to headaches, migraines and even higher incidence of cardiovascular disease. Oh, dear!

But, as an adult, you will want to realign your smile discreetly, with minimal discomfort and using something adaptable to your life. And this is where our team can help you to get the right treatment for your teeth.

At Ashlow Orthodontics, we can offer you a myriad of different treatments depending on the severity or complexity of your misalignment. We offer both aligners and braces Stoke-on-Trent so, there are plenty of options to choose from when you come to us to get your smile straightened.

Here, we offer a brief guide to our most popular aligners and braces Stoke-on-Trent. Enjoy!

Invisalign

Invisalign, one of the most popular modern-day adult orthodontics, is an aligner. It is removable and practically invisible, making it suitable and desirable for adults and teenagers.

While it can be used to treat more complex cases of misalignment, it has been found more suited to treating mild or moderate cases and, in the hands of a trained dentist, can straighten teeth in as little as 3 months.

Lingual

Known as one of our invisible braces Stoke-on-Trent, lingual options are fitted to the back of the teeth as opposed to the front and are composed of steel archwires and brackets made from gold. Thus, you have the benefits of regular orthodontic appliances with the discretion of invisible aligners.

They require tightening like regular appliances do and can be used to treat more extreme cases of misalignment, meaning you may need to wear them for up to and over 36 months.

Clear

Take regular orthodontic tools, mix them with Invisalign and you will get an idea about clear options.

They are composed of a wire and brackets, which are typically made from either clear plastic or enamel-coloured plastic to help them look more discrete; the wires used are often thinner too.

They are fixed and can treat more complicated cases of oral misalignment, resulting in the straighter smile you want in about 6-9 months on average.

Fixed

Where would the world of orthodontics be without the gold standard metal appliance?

Yes, it is fixed and yes, it is less than discrete. But you know what? When you wear it, there is a 99.7% chance of it being successful and, when it is used in succession with one of the other appliances mentioned here, you may find that you get a beautiful smile with less hassle than you imagined.

Remember, the aligner or appliance that is used to straighten your smile will depend on the complexity of the issue being treated. While we will always aim to follow your wishes concerning discretion, sometimes this may not be possible. Nevertheless, your gorgeous smile at the end of the journey will make it all worth it.
