How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign consists of plastic aligners, which are worn over the teeth to push the teeth into the correct position over a period of time. Treatment typically takes just 6 to 18 months, on average. The aligners need to be changed every couple of weeks and our dentist in Stoke will provide you with enough aligners to last for 6 weeks, before you will be required to come and see us for a checkup and to receive more of them. The aligners will be made bespoke for you, thanks to the iTero technology we have to digitally scan the mouth and get the measurements for the aligners. From this scan, we can also generate an animation of what your teeth will look like, once your treatment is over.

Why should I consider Invisalign?

If you have alignment issues such as crossbite, over or underbites, crowded or gapped teeth, then Invisalign could be just the treatment you need to get you smiling your best smile! When you have your aligners in your mouth, other people shouldn’t be able to see anything at all. This can be a very motivating reason to wear them, especially if you don’t fancy other people realising you have something in your mouth. However, you can also remove your aligners for a couple of hours daily. This means that you don’t need to wear them when you clean your teeth, so you will be able to continue to look after your teeth properly. You will also be able to take them out at mealtimes, so you won’t have to consider altering your diet at all. And, it is highly likely that you should still have time to take them out for other purposes, such as jumping on a pogo stick – whatever floats your boat!
